Where can my pet actually go?

In the UAE, plenty of hotels, restaurants, malls and beaches don’t allow pets, and some do. Mori is building a way to see which ones welcome yours, before you set off.

The problem

A day out shouldn’t end at the door.

Anyone who has turned up with a dog and been politely turned away knows this one.

Rules change place to place

One building can allow pets while the one next to it doesn’t. A hotel may welcome them while its mall does not.

Small print matters

Leashes, size limits, indoor or outdoor seating, fees and which pets count. It’s hard to find, and it changes.

Sometimes you need a hand

If pets can’t come in, is there somewhere nearby for them to stay, or someone who can look after them?

What Mori will show

Clear answers, with their sources.

Pet-friendly places is coming soon. It isn’t in the app yet. This is what we are building.

Do they welcome pets?

A simple status for each place: welcomes pets, doesn’t allow them, or ask first.

The pet rules

Leash and size rules, indoor or outdoor, fees, and which kinds of pets, in plain words.

Care on hand

Whether staff can help, or a sitter or boarding place is close by, if your pet can’t come in.

Filter and find

Search by emirate and area, the way the local guide already works, then get directions.

Sources and dates

Each place shows where its pet policy came from and the day we checked, like the rest of Mori.

Businesses can confirm

Places will be able to tell us their policy, and anything unconfirmed will say so.

Honest about what we know

Policies change, so we show our sources.

Mori’s local guide already lists 20 pet-friendly places, such as parks and beaches, each with its sources. Pet-friendly places for hotels, restaurants and more will be a dedicated feature, with its own rules and checks. Until then, please always confirm with the venue before you travel.

  • We name a place only when a source states its pet policy
  • We say “not confirmed” when we can’t tell
  • We never claim a place is pet-friendly because it is nearby one that is
  • You can report a mistake from any listing
Questions

Pet-friendly places

Is this in the app today?
No. It’s coming soon. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you first.
Which places will be covered?
We’ll start with the places we can confirm from official pages, and grow from there. We won’t list a place until a source states its pet policy.
Will it cover the whole UAE?
That’s the aim. We’ll only show an emirate’s places once we have sources for them, and we’ll say where coverage is thin.
Can a business add its own policy?
Yes. Get in touch and we’ll check it and add it with its source.

Pet registration and microchipping in Dubai

Cats and dogs in Dubai must be microchipped and registered with Dubai Municipality, normally through a licensed vet clinic, and registration is tied to up-to-date vaccinations.

Rabies vaccination

Rabies vaccination is required for cats and dogs in the UAE and must be kept current (annual booster is the norm); it is also central to import rules.

Leash rules and where dogs are allowed

Dogs must be leashed in public; most public beaches, municipal parks, malls and public transport do not admit dogs. Use designated dog parks, the Dubai Islands dog beach, and venues that explicitly welcome pets.

Banned and restricted dog breeds

The UAE bans certain dog breeds under Annex 2 of Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 (as amended by MOCCAE), with exemptions for service, emotional-support and medical dogs. Lists in secondary sources differ, so always check MOCCAE's current list.

Bringing a pet into or out of the UAE

Imports need a MOCCAE import permit, ISO microchip, valid rabies vaccination (plus titer test from high-risk countries) and an official health certificate; exports need a MOCCAE veterinary health certificate.

Walking dogs in Dubai's summer heat

From roughly May to September, walk only very early or late, test the ground with your hand, keep walks short, carry water and know the signs of heatstroke.
